Since becoming a single woman, I have discovered that I read the Bible through my "single eyes". Over the years verses just stand out differently. These are the things I will be sharing in this blog. This morning is a perfect example. I started studying the name, "El Shadday". It means God Almighty. God revealed this name for Himself as He was making a covenant with Abram.(Genesis 17) Why is this significant? Think about it. God was making a covenant with His people through Abraham and Sarah. He wanted them to know when He makes a promise, El Shadday stands behind it. God Almighty will make it happen. This was no little promise! Abraham laughed when God told him, after all he was 100 years old and Sarah was 90!
Over the years I have had all kinds of promises made to me by men. Their names were not El Shadday! To be fair I have made promises I haven't kept too. Be careful who's promises you rely on! El Shadday is able to bring to pass ALL the promises He makes. We can rest in, rely on, take to the bank His promises.
